At my guitar school, Stefan’s Guitar Academy, kids from 7yrs and older get professional tuition in Classical Guitar and Music Theory.
All students learn music literacy and perform using classical technique. They are prepared for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music(ABRSM) Exams and may attempt them if they wish to, after acquiring the appropriate levels of competence.
Every year, a Concert is held, giving the students invaluable opportunities to gain experience in performing.
Teaching started purely as a business for me to earn funds to get through University life. However, it has matured into something I love. Long-standing students have evolved to be more like family members and there’s no greater reward than to see them grow and develop in a positive way.
There were times in recent years, where I considered closing off classes so I could focus more on another career and other academic studies I was pursuing. However, having grown to love teaching so much the idea was quickly dismissed.
Teaching offers me the invaluable reward of being able to impart positive changes in the lives of my students through music and the instrument that I love, the guitar. I have become friendly with many families who are thankful for all the joy this has brought to them.
It’s satisfying being able to make a difference.
